Project Accountant
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Project Accountant to join our team and manage the financial aspects of our civil engineering projects. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in accounting and finance, with specific and significant experience in managing project budgets, cost controls, and financial reporting in the construction or civil engineering industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Financial Management:
- Monitor and manage all financial aspects of civil engineering projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Prepare and maintain detailed project budgets, ensuring alignment with project plans and schedules.
- Track project expenses, commitments, and forecasts to ensure adherence to the approved budget.
- Cost Control and Analysis:
- Analyze project costs and provide regular updates to project managers and stakeholders.
- Identify and investigate variances between actual costs and budgeted costs, providing explanations and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Work closely with the project team to develop cost-saving strategies and improve financial performance.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual project financial statements.
- Generate and review project-specific reports such as cost-to-complete forecasts, cash flow projections, and profitability analysis.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and relevant regulations.
- Billing and Invoicing:
- Manage the billing and invoicing process for projects, including preparing and submitting invoices to clients and tracking payment status.
- Coordinate with clients to resolve any billing or payment issues, ensuring prompt and accurate collections.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Maintain comprehensive financial documentation and records for each project, including contracts, change orders, invoices, and expense reports.
- Ensure all financial records are up-to-date, accurate, and easily accessible for audit and review purposes.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure financial objectives are met and risks are mitigated.
- Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Commerce.
Proven experience as a project accountant, preferably in the construction or civil engineering industry.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and cost control techniques.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally Prime) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
