Environmental Activities
Go Green
Concern for environmental preservation and sustainability is very important for the school. Rainwater harvesting is practiced and solar energy is used to heat water in the hostels and kitchens. Nature walks, tree plantation drives, birding, composting, cleanliness programmes, recycling of waste material, butterfly rearing, designing a pollinator’s garden to encourage local species of flora and fauna and bee keeping endeavours are taken up very seriously. Students map biodiversity on campus and also maintain a fungarium of species found on campus. The Mushroom cultivation project is an ongoing hands-on experience creates curiosity and sparks an interest in biological sciences. It also engages the students in business enterprise education which is in line with the Sustainable Development Goal [SDG 11] to build inclusive, resilient and sustainable communities. Students are actively involved in activities to raise awareness for conservation of environment and wildlife. They are encouraged to conduct electricity and water audit and participate in the global Earth Hour to imbibe habits of conservation of resources.
