Five students - Nirja Karnani, Devanshi Agarwal, Riyana Chopra, Esther Thongam and Arshia Aneja, along with mentor teacher Mrs. Vanshree Scott registered for the Wipro Earthian Sustainability and Waste program, an initiative of The Nature Science Initiative (NSI). The team curated and launched the Eco-Tadpole: Sustainability & Waste Campaign - A Zero Waste Campus Initiative. The students launched several initiatives such as EcoEarth– A Vermicomposting initiative; Welmush: Cultivation of Oyster Mushrooms in waste Coconut shells; Floresco: Sustainable and Edible Skin Care Products; EcoScribe: Paper Recycling Initiative; Vastra Ajasra: The Upcycling initiative aimed to repurpose and reinvent innovative items out of textile waste; to name a few. Around 350 students from grade 6 to 11 engaged in surveys and analysis of areas in school where waste is generated and implemented waste management practices and innovative strategies. The Welham school team won the 2024 Wipro Earthian Regional Award out of more than 50 schools from across Uttarakhand. Kudos to every Welhamite and teachers who were part of the Eco-Tadpole Zero Waste Campaign!
