On the ethos of Welham and its traditions
“…The ethos of Welham works at many levels. The teachers live as an extended family and within this good working atmosphere, there is autonomy given to staff. Miss Linnell and Mrs Varma allowed and assisted teachers to grow. Students are given opportunities for finding their special niche, their special talent, and Welham girls are encouraged to be multi-faceted, energetic and active people. This is what gives them confidence through their lives so that they can take on anything…”
On the spirit of Welham and the continuity of tradition
“…I am fortunate to have walked the ‘bajri’ for very long and to have seen many traditions come and go but the spirit remains the same. I have tried to retain what I feel has stood the test of time and to slowly erase what is not desirable…”
On the Welhamite’s evolution
“…Essentially the Welhamite has remained cheerful, positive and confident as a personality. What has perhaps been an inevitable and welcome change is that every Welhamite now wants to do something individual, and make something of herself…”

However, in the broader sense of a vision for the school, I look forward to the school retaining its Indian values and its cultural identity while making an appropriate local and global impact. Welhamites must dare to push their heads into the clouds but also keep their feet firmly on the ground. They must work hard but keep their sense of fun so that they enjoy what they do. They should be able to make informed choices and be flexible enough to change. And, finally, they must ‘leave the world a better place than they found it’…”
