On the 22nd of March, the class 9 students spent an hour with Ms. Anchal Sondhi appreciating the cultural, spiritual and historical significance of iconic trees on campus. From the blooming Kachnar - Bauhinia variegata with symmetrical leaves like wings of a butterfly or the shape of a camel’s foot, to the temple tree Champa, whose milky white petals resemble the moon, the students connected with trees in a meaningful way. They learnt that the fragrant flowers of Molsari/Bakul tree or the Spanish Cherry tree contributed to Indian export of perfumes to France. The students also understood the difference between the Cheer Pine and the Blue Pine. The students explored the pharmacological and cleansing property of the Reetha tree fruit. It was an exclusive time for studying tree physiology, growth patterns, and environmental interactions.
